Followup to Soccer Parents!!

Hello everyone. Here for another season of junior sports. This year it's girls softball and my oldest daughter is on a great team this year. The coach and his assistants could not be nicer or more professional. The team parents all seem to be well behaved and enthusiastic for their kids without going overboard. I'm sure this is going to be a great time for my daughter and I look forward to seeing her excel with this fantastic team. Win or lose it will be a great time for her and I. Keep you all posted.

Hey ANDROID!! Where are the Music Production Apps????

I have been an Android user since day one when I pre-ordered my G1 from T-Mobile. I have been loyal to the cause from the minute I started the G1 up. I preach to my friends the benefits and have converted many of them from Iphones and Blackberrys but I feel there are certain things that Android is falling short on.
Let me explain:

I recently bought my wife an Ipad for her birthday. She is a MAC user at work and needed to be up to speed with her co-workers. I, on the other hand have avoided MAC at all costs being a loyal Android addict. I am also first and foremost a Music Producer who uses PC for all of my production needs without any problems from the onslaught of digital recording. I was considering an Android Tablet and was waiting for the bugs to be worked out and the speed to be brought up before I purchased one.

Going back to the Ipad: I ordered my wife's Ipad on EBAY and received it a few weeks before her birthday. When I opened it I felt the need to fire it up out of curiosity. I was impressed at the speed and ease of use I have to say. But what impressed me even more was when I went into the APP store and saw the vast amount of music production apps available. I was in heaven...I immediately found an APP from AKAI professional that blew my socks off. I could not believe that they could make an APP that was so well rounded and sounded so good for a Tablet!! Needless to say I purchased it and have been enjoying the process ever since.

This brings me back to my beloved Android..what is going on??? Why aren't we seeing any impressive apps like this for the little green guy??? I just can't figure it out. I know this is a specialized platform but obviously a popular one.(AKAI just produced a keyboard controller to sync up with the Ipad so you can have an all in one studio right at your fingertips). Come on developers... We musicians/producers need you to embrace our industry so we can compete with the Ipad at all levels.

Like I said, Android is my obsession as far as my phone goes (Vibrant presently...Waiting for the Galaxy S2) but when it comes to my new Tablet purchase it has got to be an Ipad 2 ... until we can get to the level that Apple has gotten to with ease of use , reliability and music production it will stay that way.

Just had to vent...

Until Next Time,

Soccer Parents

I started this blog to spread the word about our label and artists and chose to throw in a little tech whenever needed but today I have to drop a little post about what I saw yesterday at my daughter's soccer game.

This is my daughter's first year playing peewee soccer in our town and she absolutely loves it. She does not care if she wins or loses she just loves playing the game. It seems that the rest of the kids on her team feel the same...they are there to have fun...That's It!

We are 4 games in and for the last 4 weeks I have witnessed unbelievable behavior from the parents that up until now I had only read about in the papers.

Adults screaming at the top of their lungs at these kids not with encouragement but with angst and disgust as these little girls tried their best to have fun and enjoy themselves. They were yelling so loud and sternly that the kids were getting nervous during every play.....One mother screamed that her kid was not allowed to eat for a week because she let a goal go by!!

I can understand getting excited about our children playing organized sports but acting like animals and scaring our children is unacceptable.

I felt compelled to post this as it is weighing heavy on my heart.

Let me know what you think and have a great day and remember these kids are our future and the way we act will reflect on how they act when they grow.

Take Care,
JHolla
